Officially launching Summer 2019, Hansberry Exchange’s mission is to provide innovative branding, strategy, and design solutions to museums and other cultural institutions who are dedicated to making an impact among multicultural communities of the African Diaspora.

The business model calls for HE to also function as a museum, to reinforce a clear understanding of the potential needs of external clients. This includes original exhibit curation and coverage of the latest happenings within the archival and preservation world as it relates to the African Diaspora.


Inspired by Lorraine Hansberry, the visual identity system’s incorporates the Cabrini Green building, a housing project located in Chicago, a nod to Hansberry’s family’s legal battle against racially segregated housing laws in the Washington Park Subdivision of the South Side of Chicago during her childhood. 

Taking the “berry” in Hansberry literally, the color palette’s foundation stems from a rich berry tone combined with muted greys and taupes. Inspired by strong fonts from newspaper headlines and play books, Robinson Regular stood out. Venti CF, a wider sans serif font, balances it out.
